What The California Beach Co. Makes
The California Beach Co. is a California-based family gear brand whose brand bio describes it as designing “innovative, adventure-ready products that make life easier for modern families.” The company is built around one flagship product — the Pop N Go Playpen — but has expanded the lineup with matching outdoor accessories.
The brand states it has over 20,000 five-star reviews and describes the Pop N Go as trusted by “over one million parents.” Its core audience is families who regularly go to the beach, park, backyard, or travel with babies and young toddlers who need a safe, enclosed space to play without being placed directly on the ground or sand.
All products are listed as SGS and ASTM Safety Certified, as stated by The California Beach Co. The brand sells through Amazon and its own website at thecaliforniabeachco.com, where it offers a 30-Day Money Back Guarantee with free returns.
The Pop N Go Playpen
The Pop N Go Playpen is the product that put The California Beach Co. on the map, and its Amazon rating reflects that history. The current listing — the version with the Cosmic Gray colorway and the UV shade cover — holds 4.7 stars from over 4,100 Amazon ratings. That is among the strongest ratings in the portable playpen category.
The assembled dimensions are 59 inches wide by 48 inches high. That gives enough floor space for a baby to do tummy time, roll, and eventually learn to pull up. The walls reach 48 inches high — well above the standing height of most toddlers who would use this product. The playpen weighs 7.2 lbs and folds down to 8 inches by 36 inches, small enough to fit in an overhead bin on most flights or in a stroller’s cargo basket.
A UPF 50+ shade cover is included. The California Beach Co. describes it as detachable and notes the UPF 50+ rating blocks more than 98% of UV rays through the fabric. Six ground stakes and six sand stakes are included for anchoring outdoors. Bug-proof mesh netting runs around the sides.
One important note for parents: The Pop N Go is a play enclosure, not a safe sleep surface. The brand positions it as an active play space — “from tummy time to the I-can-climb-everything stage” in the brand’s own words. It is not designed or rated as a sleep environment, and it should not be used as one.
Regarding age and weight limits: The California Beach Co. describes the playpen as suited for babies and toddlers but does not publish a specific maximum weight on the product listing. Parents with questions about whether it fits their child’s size should contact the brand directly before purchasing.

Outdoor Accessories: Canopies and Blankets
The Pop N Go line extends beyond the playpen into outdoor accessories designed for the same beach-and-park audience.
The Pop N Go Beach Canopy is a windproof pop-up tent in a Sweet Mint colorway with UV shade coverage. It carries 4.3 stars from 46 early reviews. The canopy uses the same pop-up-and-stake design language as the playpen, making it a natural companion product for beach days where you want both a play space and a shaded rest area.
The Voyager Waterproof Picnic Beach Blanket comes in several patterns — Wave (4.5 stars, 54 reviews) and Rainbow (4.4 stars, 49 reviews) — with sand stake anchoring built in. The waterproof construction is intended to block sand from coming through the blanket from below, and the stake system anchors it against wind.
Both are newer additions to the line compared to the flagship playpen and are still accumulating their review base.
Shipping, Returns & Warranty
The California Beach Co. offers a 30-Day Money Back Guarantee with free returns, as stated on thecaliforniabeachco.com. Amazon purchases ship under standard Amazon fulfillment terms for Prime members. The brand’s customer support is available at [email protected] or by phone at 877-478-6211.
Is California Beach Co. Worth It vs. Alternatives
The two most common alternatives in the portable playpen category are the KidCo P3010 Go-Pod and the Summer Pop ‘n Play. The KidCo Go-Pod is a stationary pop-up play seat designed for infants who cannot yet crawl — a different use case. The Summer Pop ‘n Play is the closest direct competitor to the Pop N Go in pop-up format and portability.
The California Beach Co.’s advantage is in the shade cover, the stake system, and the large review volume behind the main playpen — 4.7 stars from 4,100+ reviews is a meaningful signal in a category where competing products often have far fewer ratings to draw on. The brand also ships the full accessory line under one storefront, which simplifies building a beach-day kit.
The honest limitation is the price: the Pop N Go sits at the upper end of the portable playpen category. Buyers for whom portability is less critical can find home-use playyards at a lower outlay.
